Decisive factors can be such as the interest of students, future opportunities, growth prospects, college of their choice, finance, etc.

B.TECH VS B.E

Engineering is one of the most sought courses after 12th in India. And the most common queries that all the engineering aspirants have is whether to do B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) or B.E (Bachelor of Engineering). They are inquisitive to know the differences between the two degrees. Do they only differ in the name or even in the curriculum and syllabus? Which will be more beneficial to them? Which will suit them according to their interest and aptitude? These types of questions are very important to be answered before the course is selected by the students. Right here you will get the answer to all such queries.

As the names of both the degrees indicate i.e. Bachelor of Technology vs. Bachelor of Engineering; the difference can be understood as Technology vs. Engineering. There is a very thin line of difference between both. Bachelor of Engineering has more theoretical based concepts and principles whereas Bachelor of Technology is practical intensive. This deals with the application of theories and principles into practical work.

Although, more or less the curriculum for both the courses is the same and both the degrees are equally valued in the market.

COMPARISON TABLE – B.TECH vs. B.E

S.NO

BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING (B.E)

BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.TECH)

1.

This Engineering program focuses more on theoretical study, concepts and principles which would help in innovation of new gadgets and machinery. We can say it is data oriented.

This graduation program is more technology centric. It emphasises on the implementation of theoretical knowledge to practical purposes and development and thus this course is a skill oriented course.

2.

Generally, Universities offer graduation degree in various disciplines such as in arts, science, commerce and engineering; and so B.E (bachelor degree) is awarded by such universities.

A set of institutions called Autonomous Institutions offer degrees which are technology based and degree of engineering from such institutions is called as B.Tech.

3.

The curriculum which is followed by universities which offer BE Course is approved by AICTE.

Their own curriculum is made and followed by such autonomous institutions.

4.

Industrial training and visits and internship may or may not be a part of the curriculum.

Such industrial training and internship; both are mandatory in B. Tech Courses.

The above are some broad differences between the two courses which most of the students have little information about. Both the courses are equally important and it will not be correct to say that one is better than the other. The choice of course purely rests upon the interest of the student. Let’s discuss other aspects of both the courses as well:

JOB PROSPECTS AND AVERAGE SALARY OF A FRESHER – B.TECH VS B.E

Both the degrees are almost similarly ranked in the market. A student can either choose to do the job after completion of the degree or can pursue further studies as M.TECH or M.E. If a student opts to do the job then there are huge job opportunities in all sectors say private, public and government. And if you want to study further and then do the job then gate to various other opportunities get open.

Both the courses whether it is Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology provides various options of specialization and this particular thing that there are many areas in which degree can be attained in B.Tech and B.E makes both these courses popular amongst student. Also due to various fields present, high salary prospects open up and also students get a job surety and a secured future.

An average salary of a B. Tech fresher may vary from 3.5-6 lakhs and that of B.E fresher may range from 3-5.5 Lakhs. Needless to mention that the salary may vary due to factors like the college and university from where the degree has been obtained, the specialization of degree, whether the job is in the private sector or government sector etc.

Salary keeps on increasing based on the experience which you gain with the course of time and your capabilities and rigorous hard work.

Lastly, I would say that both the degrees have an equal weightage in the society and whatever you choose shall be according to your wish list, strengths and your plans for the future.  Candidates can take up any stream or field of engineering and these options are widely available in both the courses. Particularly if a college or institution is following All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved curriculum; then the name of the degree really doesn’t make big difference.

 BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (BSC.)

Bachelor of Science is yet another course which is available to students of science stream. It is a Pure Science Course and technical aspects of science are absent from it. The duration of B.Sc is generally three years and this course is more focused towards research and development. Students who take up the course of B.Sc are more devoted towards the profession of teaching and the majority of them end up becoming professors and lecturers.

SPECIALIZED COURSES AVAILABLE IN B.SC

  1. B.Sc Agriculture
  2. B.Sc Horticulture
  3. B.Sc Forestry
  4. B.Sc IT
  5. B.Sc. Computer Science

BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.TECH) Vs. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (B.SC)

Students and parents both generally are confused when it comes in choosing between B.Tech and B.Sc. Which is better B.Tech or B.Sc for the best future? This question haunts them until they make their mind by electing one course. But on what parameters should students select the course? What factors should be considered? What are the basic differences between these courses? To understand the differences let’s have a look at various aspects of both the courses.

S.NO

PARAMETERS

B.TECH

B.SC

  1.

Syllabus

B. Tech has more emphasis ontechnical and practical aspects. It inclined more towards the application of science.

B.Sc is a study of basic and pure science. It is more emphasised towards research, knowledge and development.

  1.

Duration

Four years

Three years

  1.

Specialization

This course is designed in such a way that you can focus on your particular interest and choose your engineering field and in the last year of your course you can choose any further specialization.

There are no specific changes in the syllabus of the course and for any further specialization in particular field one has to do M.Sc/ M.E/M.Tech or MBA.

  1.

Higher Studies

There are many options for a B.Tech student if he wants to carry on with higher studies. These choices include M.Tech , Doctorate and even MBA or Post Graduate Diploma,

Similarly, there are options for B.Sc students also. Like he/she can to M.Sc and carry on with research. If a student wants to go into the management field then MBA can be done.

  1.

Difficulty level

B.Tech is much tougher and demands you to be excellent in mathematics and science.

B.Sc is comparatively less difficult in the curriculum from B.Tech. Students can comfortably do it if they are good in mathematics and science.

  1.

What to choose

B.Tech deals with the technical side of science, designs, calculations, innovation etc and so if you are more focused towards this demanding field you should opt for B.Tech.

Whereas, if you are more interested in non-technical science and feel best with basic science then B.Sc should be your choice. B.Sc together with M.Sc makes a good career option.

  1.

Career Prospects

Career prospects in B.Tech are good when compared with B.Sc. Only B.Tech (as it is done in a specialized field) can fetch you a good job and kick start your career. You have various career options after you B.Tech is completed.

B.Sc, on the other hand has an average career prospect as it is a general basic science course and involves non-technical aspects of science. Career options are limited after B.Sc only and it shall be coupled with M.Sc or MBA for greater career opportunities.

  1.

Salary

The degree of B.Tech provides you with a higher salary than B.Sc because the technical aspects of B.Tech allures companies both Indian and foreign and firms also.

A B.Sc graduate also gets a decent salary package but it is lower when compared to a B.Tech passed out.

Above were some points which will help students understand the differences between B.Tech and B.Sc. Students who want to have degrees in electronics, civil, mechanical, computer science etc. shall go for B.Tech and aspirants who are more devoted towards zoology, botany, physics, chemistry etc shall go for studying B.SC.

When the above comparative chart is studied then it seems out that B.tech shall be preferred over B.Sc for having a sound career. But still this decision shall be solely a student’s decision which shall be taken after considering various factors and students interest. Students also should consider one more factor i.e. college. Having done a degree from a reputed college always matter in the future. For example, if you are getting admission into not so Good B.Tech College and also into a reputed college into B.SC course then you should select B.Sc over B.Tech. College plays a vital role in moulding one’s career and life and therefore, it shall also to one of the factors before you choose your course.

Whether you choose B.Tech, B.E or B.Sc you should always remember that it will be your capabilities and interest which will ultimately help you to excel in the course. Your interest and choice matter and this decision of your course should be taken with deep thought and understanding. Your knowledge in the respective course, your grasping power, hard work and innovation capabilities are all which will pay you in your career and future.
