The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar

The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar, was founded on July 18, 1988, in response to a perceived need for a loving, comprehensive, value-based, and secure learning environment. It is set on 1.5 acres at the border of the Ridge Forest and thoughtfully planned to give each student with a broad education in a secure, supportive atmosphere that encourages strong values, self-discipline, motivation, and academic excellence.

We have grown slowly but steadily, holding fast to our philosophy, from a modest beginning in five tents with sixty-four eager children, a handful of determined staff, and a lot of faith in the vision of a child-centered school, to school a strength in excess of seven hundred children and a hundred and eight staff.

Our philosophy in continual learning is encouraged, as is the school's primary goal of improving students' learning and accomplishment. Our statement of purpose sets out our commitment to our vision, core values and our educational philosophy, establishes the learning outcomes expected of each student and encourages teachers to continue to innovate and improve on existing methodology, ensuring we keep abreast of contemporary thought and innovation. We have a Special Needs Department that has been in operation since 1997 to guarantee that each child's particular needs are met.

Access to a wide range of community members, who regularly engage in meaningful and enriching dialogue with our students, ensures that our students have more role models and mentors from different walks of life involved in their stages of growing up. Their contribution is invaluable in providing guidance to the students in several areas– whether it is life skills, understanding a subject better or talking about teenager challenges. Regular and intensive feedback is floated to and from the community members and a commonality in messaging and tonality ensures that a child does not receive conflicting or confusing messages.
