OXFORD UNIVERSITY

Overview

The University Of Oxford, established in 1096 and situated in Oxford, England, is the Oldest University in the English speaking world, and is actually so ancient that its founding date is unknown – though it is thought that teaching took place there as early as the 11th century. In less than a century, Oxford had achieved an important set of learning and won the praises of popes, kings, and sages by virtue of its antiquity, curriculum, philosophical system, and privileges.

Throughout the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, Oxford has added a serious new analysis capability within the natural and applied sciences, together with medication. The University’s estate has been growing at around 5% per annum for the last 15 years. Over the past eight decades, Oxford has been making significant contributions to society not only locally but nationally and internationally as well.

Oxford is situated in and around the medieval city center of Oxford, dubbed “the dreaming city of spires” by the 19th century poet Matthew Arnold, and comprises 44 colleges and halls and at the same time the largest library system in the UK.  It is located about 60 miles north-west of London and today there are around 240 buildings across 13 sites in and around Oxford.

The couple’s only child had died of typhoid, and their resolution reached to build a university on their farm was engaged as a memorial. From the beginning the university was non-sectarian, teaching both the traditional liberal arts, co-educational and affordable, and the technology and engineering that was shaping the new America at the time.

Fast forward over a century, and Stanford counts 19 Nobel laureates within its community and is regularly ranked among the Top Three Universities in the World. Also known as “The Farm” from the days when horses wander there, Stanford’s Campus is now a thriving community of over 11,000 creative and adepted people from around the world. Nearly all UG and 60 % of graduate students live on campus, so it is hardly surprising that student life is rich and different, with more than 625 organized student groups.

The close-knit communal nature of life on campus has even given rise to “Stanford speak”, a special language only spoken on campus.

Stanford University has a total UG enrollment of 7,087, its setting is suburban, and the size of the campus is 8,180 acres. It utilizes a quarter-based academic calendar. In the 2020 edition of Best Colleges, the ranking of the Stanford University's among National Universities is 6. Its tuition and fees are $53,529.

Out of seven schools of Stanford University’s four offer UG and graduate coursework, and the rest of the three serve as purely graduate schools.
