Founded under the Act of Central Legislative Assembly of the British India in 1922 as a distinct educational hub allowing residence facilities to the students, the University of Delhi holds a substantial rank among the Top Ten Universities of India. The University of Delhi was formerly known as Prince Charles University. This centralized university has 16 faculties having 86 academic departments in 77 colleges mapping the capital region with the greater wings of qualitative education. The curriculum is equipped with contemporary teaching and research methodologies for the production of world class professionals.

The premier university is divided into two campuses: North campus and South campus, located in North and South Delhi, respectively. The North campus houses top-tier institute that includes St. Stephen’s College, Hindu College, Ramjas College, Hansraj College, Kirori Mal College, Daulat Ram College, Miranda House, etc. whereas the South campus is crowned by Sri Venkateshwara College, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, PGDAV College, Maitreyi CollegeAtma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, etc. The faculties of University of Delhi are:

For Under Graduation, there are total 87 courses available for the students with A class pedagogy. All the faculty members, academicians, lecturers, professors, Head of the departments and principals are highly learned and proficient in their subjects of specializations, and equipping the students with day to day problem dealing abilities.

The Administration

Under the supervision of Vice President of India and Chief Justice of India, University of Delhi is shaping with broadest sanctums of Academic Council and other major governmental agencies. The administration has administrative authorities like University Court, Executive Council, Academic Council and Finance Committee. These bodies manage the static functioning of the systems in university.

Life@DU

The students develop their professional as well as personal skills in the university by receiving excellent pedagogy in classrooms by highly skilled professors and by embedding in analytical and practical trainings provided to them to enhance their capabilities to deal with industry related issues. Also students gets opportunities to take part in national as well as state level social activism which includes campaigns, revolutionary protests, workshops, events, etc. Every college organizes their own annual fest where students showcase their talents and knowledge by marking their involvement in all the sections and events. Students driven societies are skillfully active in every college to take initiative for ECAs.

Sports is considered in priority list in DU’s Colleges and all sport events takes place at the stadium in North campus, allowing students to learn different sports.

With the changing scenario of education system, Delhi University is a top notch educational body where exceptional students are marking their victorious sign by excelling in their professions in India and abroad.

Admission in Delhi University

To take admission in any of the colleges of University of Delhi, candidates should be enlisted as per the merit lists. Every college of DU releases their merit lists for the admissions of candidates in undergraduate courses. The cut-offs of the colleges in DU crosses 99 percent which makes it an excellent educational hub. Applicants throughout India register themselves for the admission process. The admissions in DU garner wide attention of students from every zone of education because of its sanctity and prestige. The Ministry of Human Resource and Development had framed the admission procedure for undergraduate courses of 2017 for the month of April/May. To avoid the conflicts regarding admissions, the authorities have decided to open the online registration portal for undergraduate entries. The candidates are requested to complete their registration process till the month of June. 

Steps involved in registration process

The applicants are requested to follow the procedure of registration step by step to avoid any halt. To begin their venture of successful career, all the applicants shall

  • Follow the online mode of application on UG Online portal.
  • Choose their preferred colleges/courses according to available notifications
  • Select their Cultural/ECA or Sports quota for availing reservations
  • Use correct phone number and Email id
  • Fill the form with accurate information in all 8 sections
  • Deposit the application fees on time as requested

Documents required for Registration

Candidates shall provide the truest of information during registration and shall attach the soft copies of the government authorized documents. The documents required are:

  • A good quality scanned and attested passport sized photograph in jpg format
  • Scanned signature of the candidates (same as in 10th marksheet)
  • For date of Birth, a self attested copy of Xth standard marksheet
  • A copy of self attested marksheet of XIIth standard (online copy in case if marksheet is not received)
  • If applicable, attested certificate of SC/ST/OBC/PWD/KM/CW of the candidates
  • If applicable, attested certificates of Sports of past three years
  • If applicable, attested certificates of Extra Curricular Activities

Registration Fee

All the candidates are requested to pay the Registration fee for the successful completion of their applications. The registration fee for General/OBC is INR 100 and all the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories shall pay INR 50.

After the release of cutoff lists, candidates are requested to report to the colleges with the hard copies of the documents and registration forms to avail their reservation on seats. With further proceedings, students are requested to pay their admission fee in their respective colleges on time.

    The entrance I took was CET-K (Common Entrance Test - Karnataka). It is a generalized test for the pre university students of Karnataka where rankings are allotted based on merit. My ranking was around 14k.And I chose the course as I was passionate towards Mechanical Engineering.
