There are plenty of capable students who often fail to fulfill their Dream for Higher Studies with the cost of education having become quite an expensive affair. The need for scholarships is compelling and critical for our students more than ever before. There are several private and public organizations that help capable students in requirement of financial assistance.

SII Scholarship Scheme

With the aid of the following Indian ministries - the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, for the academic year 2020-21, Study in India is offering 2000 scholarships worth USD 3500 each.

By SII every meritorious student that has been offered this scholarship shall receive it for a max. period:

  1. of 5 years for UG integrated courses;
  2. of 3 or 4 years for Undergraduate Courses, according to the course duration;
  3. of 2 years for postgraduate courses;
  4. or, till the completion of this course, whichever is lesser.

Do remember, scholarships are only available for the above listed categories, and not applicable for Ph.D, M.Phil and Doctoral Level Courses.

Students should have registered with SII to apply for this scholarship, completed an application on the website - www.studyinindia.gov.in, and been admitted into SII-partnered institutions. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of the following:

  • Students should have had a commendable academic history in his / her secondary school, higher secondary school, and / or Latest Academic Qualification.
  • From the given list of countries students may appear for the Ind-SAT exam that is conducted by the SII team, and a merit list would be generated for the second-wave of shortlisting.
  • As per the country-wise allocated quota and other criterion, by the SII team the final shortlisted will be contacted.

Note, for the Ind-SAT exam all applications are on a separate portal, the link of which will be sent to the student’s email address, and will be also available on the SII portal and the Student Dashboard.

For the SII scholarship a few substantial clauses about the scholarship for the students applying.

  1. Each scholarship is valued at USD 3500 per student per year.
  2. Each scholarship under the SII scheme will only cover tuition, accommodation, food and admission fees. By this scholarship no other expense listed outside this set will be provided for.
  3. If the total fees of the course for each year, which includes tuition, accommodation, food and admission, is lesser than the proposed value of USD 3500, the lesser amount will be given as scholarship.
  4. All scholarships are electronically transferred to the institutes.
  5. Scholarship amount will be transferred to the institute after a verification of the student’s attendance for the first month has been forwarded to the SII team.
  6. All scholarships are renewable on a year-on-year basis until the day of Graduation.

Each online application will be verified for the Institute and the Scholarship Allotment by Institutes and the SII team before releasing the final offer letter to students.

For more details, before applying for the SII scholarship please read through the clauses given below carefully.

Apply for Scholarships

To be qualified for the Scholarship of SII, the student should’ve applied to SII and have received admission in one of the SII-partner institutes. Students who have shown curiosity to apply for the SII scholarship, will be given the links to apply for the Ind-SAT Exam, by SII an assessment test has been conducted, to be taken for initial shortlisting of the candidates

Scholarship Values

For the academic year 2020-21, students who are part of the SII fraternity will be awarded by 2000 scholarships. The value of each scholarship is USD3500, which is an approximate Rs. 2,50,000 in Indian currency (INR).

The SII Scholarship awarded students will be given either the gross total of tuition fees, admission fees, food expenses or USD3500, and accommodation whichever is lesser.

For a complete course duration scholarships are granted. For the coming academic year the student would require to renew the scholarship status, before the scholarship lapses for the present academic year.

Renewal of Scholarship

A scholarship under the scheme is renewable on yearly basis up till the completion of the course, with reference to the scholarship timeline given above, without extending the mentioned no. of years for the course.

If in the annual examination a scholar is unable to appear, owing to illness and / or on account of any unforeseen event, the award may be renewed for the coming academic year, on submission of a medical certificate and other evidence submitted. Additionally, the head of the inst. should have declared as true that the student would have passed, with the necessary percentage of marks or equiv. Grade Point Avg., had he/she appeared for the examination.

In case a scholar has decided to change his field of study or course offered by the institute, then a new offer letter and an attested document submitted by the head of the inst. should provide certification, allowing the student to change course within the inst.

However, if a scholar choose to change courses from the allotted inst., then the scholarship will not be renewed for the following years.

Renewal Process

Scholars would require to send the following documents to renew scholarship, attested by the respective inst.:

  • For the academic year scholar should have passed all the subjects and should have been promoted to the coming academic year.
  • Scholar should have been passed of any corrective action
  • Across semesters or trimesters a min. attendance of 75% should have been maintained

To the institute’s account the renewed scholarship for the scholar will be released, only after the Study in India team has verified this information.

Withdrawal of Scholarship

From a scholar the SII Scholarship will be revoked if the scholar has joined an inst. different from the allotted one, before the accomplishment of the course. The student would require to pay for the duration of the course. Recovery of the amount to be done by the institute.

Ind-SAT

For students looking for scholarships with Study in India (SII) the Indian Scholastic Assessment or IND-SAT is a standardized online proctored test. This exam is to gauge the tenacity and capability of students applying to study in India. For the allocation of scholarships the IND-SAT scores will serve as a criterion to shortlist the meritorious students.

Regarding the Ind-SAT Exam the student would be notified via emails. Informtion on the same would be available on the Student Dashboard and SII portal too.

In mid-May, the exam is expected to be conducted and the medium of the paper would be in English. It is a MCQ type paper, timed at 90 minutes. The students will be assessed in the given areas - Verbal, Quantitative and Logical Reasoning
