Formerly known as Allahabad Agricultural Institute, this University was founded by Dr. Sam Higginbottom in 1910 with an aim to improve the financial and economic conditions of rural people of the state.

The University is well organized and is divided into 22 schools 8 faculties, 78 academic departments and 3 research centers.
