Banaras Hindu University Pre Medical Test [BHU PMT]

Overview

This 1916, Banaras Hindu University which is popularly known as BHU located in Varanasi. BHU was established by Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya. This enormous university is like a small town in itself comprises over 20,000 students residing in around 75 hostels, several colleges such as science, linguistics, engineering, management, Journalism & Mass Comm., agriculture, medicine, and Institute of Environment & sustainable development.

Out of them, BHU also conducts Banaras Hindu University Pre Medical Test (BHU PMT Exam) which is organized by BHU concerned authority. For this BHU PMT Exam, BHU conducts an Competitive written test for taking admission into medical programs offered by Institute of Medical Sciences. Institute of Medical Sciences conducts BHU-PMT (Banaras Hindu University Pre-Medical Entrance Exam (BHU-PMT)) entrance exam for taking admission into MBBS, BDS, BAMS and B.Pharm programs.

BHU PMT Exam has two stages namely PMT- Screening and PMT- Main. BHU PMT Exam Screening is held for preparing the merit list for BAMS, BDS and B.Pharm programs and BHU-PMT Exam Main is held only for MBBS program.

In BHU PMT Exam, 84 seats are declared for MBBS Programme - 15% seats of total 84 seats i.e. 13 seats are for candidates who would be admitted directly through All India Quota (for central counseling) and the remaining 85% i.e. 71 seats will be occupied through IMS, BHU counseling.

The seat distribution of the 71 seats of BHU PMT Exam amongst all the different categories is as follows:

3% reservation is for PC candidates i.e. 2 seats in BHU PMT Exam will be given horizontally as per GOI norms. There are total 50 seats in BDS programme of BHU PMT Exam to be filled up through IMS BHU counseling, the distribution is given below:
