Birla Institute of Technology & Science (shortened BITS or Bits Pilani) can be characterised as an Indian institute of higher education. Moreover, the deemed university has 15 academic departments, and offers a majestic educational ambience.

The institution offers education in several disciplines of engineering and sciences along with a highly superior Management Programme. It has established a foothold as one of the best private engineering institutes in the country. Further, it is also renowned as a Top Notch B-school of the country. Along with earning widespread fame, BITS also established centres at different corners of the country such as Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. An international centre of the institution is present in Dubai too.

Inaugurated in the year 1964, the institute has evolved from a regional engineering college to a national level university. However, Mr. G.D. Birla played an instrumental role in the development of the university.

The institute conducts BITSAT (BITS Admission Test) which is defined as an All India computerised competitive entrance examination.
