Thangavelu Engineering College was established in the year 1995 by Ponniamman Educational Trust and the TJ Educational Trust. The College is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.

• The College is situated in Karapakkam in the Old Mahabalipuram Road (IT Highway) and is connected to road
• It is 10 kms away from Tambaram and 1 kms from Sholinganallur
