Overview Information
About College
With a view to taking India to the peak of science and technology, the Government of India took the initiative to establish several IITs across the country. It was because of this step by the Indian Government that the Indian Institute of Technology in Indore was set up in the year 2009. The IIT-Indore is situated in Madhya Pradesh.
- The institute is among the eight new IITs established during the academic year 2008-2009 by the HRD Ministry of the Govt. of India.
- Under the mentorship of IIT-Bombay, the institute began to function from its temporary campus at the Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilyabai University.
- The foundation stone for the institute’s permanent campus was laid by the former HRD Minister, Shri.Arjun Singh on 17th February 2009.
- The campus of the institute is spread over a vast area of 512 acres of land located in Simrol which is only a few kilometers from the main city of Indore.
- Indore is a city connected brilliantly with all the major cities in the country by rail, road as well as air and thus making it easier for the students to study in IIT.
- Diverse programs are being offered in the institute mainly including B. Tech and Ph. D in the various departments.
- Special emphasis is also given to the research and development programs in the institute realizing the value of these in the growth of a country.
- The various courses offered at the institute have also been recognized by the UGC and approved by the AICTE.

IIT-Indore team beat 15 top IITs stand first among all Indian universities at 38th Programming Olympiad at Moscow. The team was ranked 42nd in the world.
