Tamil Nadu Fisheries University is the only university in state which provides fishery education and research & provides various training programmes, campaigns, demonstrations, etc., for the benefit of fishermen, rural men and women, fish farmers, prawn farmers, entrepreneurs, bank and insurance officials such as Preparation of value added fishery products, Composite fish farming, Modern methods of fishing and fish processing etc. University offers Bachelor & Master courses in Fisheries Science, Post Graduate Diploma courses in Fish Quality Management and Research courses in Aquaculture, Fisheries Biology and Capture Fisheries, Fisheries Resources & Economics and Fish Processing Technology.

Admission in Tamil Nadu Fisheries University Fisheries Engineering Candidates should belong to Tamil Nadu State and must be below the age of 21 as on 1st of July of the concerned year. For SC/SCA/ST candidates, there is no age limit & Candidates should possess the Higher Secondary Course (10+2)/CBSE/any other examination recognized as equivalent with 60 percent.
