About College

Well-known for its infrastructure and education, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research - [IIHR], Bangalore, Karnataka has established experiment stations across the country at Lucknow, Godhra, Nagpur, Chettalli, Gonikopal, and Ranchi. The stations have expanded since their inception and at present have transformed into independent sections. The main research station of the institute is at Hessaraghatta, Bengaluru. It has spread across 263 hectares of land. The institute has grown in various directions. From the year 1970 to 1990, the institute acquired land to develop buildings. During this time, the infrastructure of the institute expanded exponentially. After 1990, the institute concentrated on developing world class facilities, structures as well as equipments. Divided into 11 divisions and 4 sections, the institute concentrates on grooming students.

There are over 65 purpose oriented laboratories with state of the art equipments like ultra centrifuge, HPLC, electron microscope, LC counter, GLC and others. Series of poly houses, net houses, mist chambers, gene bank and many others are present in the institute. Besides, conference hall, training hostel, library, auditorium are also built.

2. Agriculture Technology Information Centre (ATIC) –ATIC acts as a single window agency that helps disseminate information as well as technologies that are developed by the institute. Technological products and publications too are sold to the farmers and other people through ATIC. This helps students get an exposure about the industry and makes them grow as a professional in the field of horticultural research.
