About College

Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture Srinagar, was established to harness the vest potentialities of temperate horticultural crops in the region. It is a premier institute with main campus at Srinagar and one regional station at Mukteshwar for carrying out basic strategic and applied research on major temperate horticultural crops. The institute is involved in generation of basic information and identification of high yielding varieties and hybrids. The institute was established to act as national repository of germplasm and scientific information on temperate horticultural crops and to serve as centre of training for human resource development and transfer of technology. Major objective of institute is to develop eco-friendly disease/pest management techniques including mitigation of post harvest spoilage and to increase foreign exchange earnings through export and to reduce import of items.

  • Research Projects- CITH have made several projects like “Outreach of technologies for temperate fruits”, 2008 funded by Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) and “Pollination studies in apple and almond for higher fruit set and quality fruit production ”.

  • Training Modules- Various trainings have been organized by CITH like “National Model training course”, “State level Advance training”, “National Model Training course” etc.

  • Best Faculty- Many prominent awards have been won by the staff members of CITH like “Vijay shree Award”, “Glory of India Gold Medal”, “Dr. Kirti Singh Gold Medal” etc and many other appreciation certificates.
