Dr. G. Shankar Government Women’s First Grade College & P.G Centre, Udupi was established after the results of request from local organizations and general public with the aim to cater to the higher education needs of economically poor and underprivileged rural women. The college was founded and was confined to a few rooms in Govt. Junior College for Girls. The college’s vision is to achieve academic excellence and committed to social values, to empower and emancipate women through education and to create individuals who have compassion for all living creatures. The mission of the college is to provide an opportunity for women to receive higher education, to enable the students to develop the skills required to acquire knowledge and to create awareness among women about their rights and responsibilities.
