About College

Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University also known as TANUVAS, is one of the finest Veterinary and animal science universities in the nation. At first, it was a school of agriculture offering certificate and diploma courses in Animal Science and Veterinary field.

  • Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was established on 20th September 1989. Its first headquarters was at Chennai.
  • The University was founded upon the Madras Veterinary College which was founded in 1876. MVC started its journey in the veterinary world in the year 1903 with a certificate course called Graduate of Madras Veterinary College. In this 3 years course, the total number of students was only 20
  • The TANUVAS offers degree courses like Bachelors in Veterinary Science, B. Tech in Food Technology and Poultry Processing Technology, Masters in Veterinary Sciences, PhD and M. Phil Courses
  • The main objective of the University is to educate the students in veterinary and animal science.

      Candidates should belong to Tamil Nadu state and must have passed Higher Secondary Course (10+2) / CBSE / other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with the relevant subjects with 60% Marks. Candidates willing to apply should be below the age of 21 Years as on 1st July of the admission year concerned. For SC / ST candidates, there is no age limit. Candidates will be selected for the above mentioned UG programmes on the basis of their performance in the 10+2 qualifying examination.
