About College

Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University is a public state university is located in Chennai. It was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature. The University is known for its Academic excellence and provides various Law programs for various students.  University has 7 govt. colleges and a private college running under its affiliation.

Objectives: The Objectives of the TNDALU as specified in the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University Act 1996 (No.43 of 1997) are as follows.

• To provide for the advancement and spreading of knowledge of law and their role in the development of better education.
• To promote legal education that can contribute well being of the community generally.
• To develop in the students and research scholar, a sense of responsibility to serve the society in the field of law by developing skills in regard to advocacy, legal services, legislation, law reforms and the like.
• To organize various seminars, Lectures, conferences and symposia.

Facilities:

School of Excellence in Law: It is Department of Undergraduate law studies which is directly managed by The Dr. Ambedkar Law University.  This department is established in 2002 and provides 5 year integrated B.A.B.L.(Hons), (Law Degree).

Hostel: A Women’s Hostel is available in the campus of the TNDALU and allotment of rooms is done to the girls on the basis of first comes, first served.

Library: Library is the heart of any academic institution and plays a key role in all academic activities and more so in law institutions as well as in law firms.

• Keeping in this mind, the library of TNDALU has been planned and is being developed by a team of qualified professional library staff and guided by the Library Council.
• There are 18,803 books in the library of the University, with 963 online Journals, 81 Indian Journals, 8 Foreign Journals, 25 CD’s and digital books and 8 Indian magazines.
• The library at TNDALU has adopted an open access system so as to facilitate readers to have easy access and retrieval of library and information resources.

Scholarships: Various scholarships, endowments and awards are given to the students of TNDALU. The following endowments have been instituted in the University
