About College

Kalasalingam University is the No.1 Deemed University in south Tamil Nadu. It was established in the year 1984 by the Kalasalingam Anandam Ammal Charities. The aim of the university is to be a world-class university and focus on research to produce technical and management graduates who would be global players.

• Started as Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering in 1984 by Kalasalingam and Anandam Ammal Charities
• Govt. of Tamil Nadu granted permanent approval and Madurai Kamaraj University has given permanent affiliation.
• UGC Approval under section 2(f) and 12(b)
• Ranked among top 5 engineering colleges affiliated to Anna University, Tamil Nadu
• Accredited by National Board of Accreditation for all UG Programmes
• Obtained ISO Certification by RWTUV, Germany
• Located in the most backward rural area providing technical knowledge to the downtrodden people as pointed out by our Hon’ble Prime Minister of India
• Received Deemed to be University status in October 2006 and Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) started functioning from the academic year 2007-08

Placement

The College has an independent Training & placement Cell devoted to cater to the needs of the organizations in conducting campus interviews for placements.

• Nature Club: This club is formed mainly to create awareness among the general public about wildlife protection.
• Tamil Mandram of Kalasalingam University is a literary as well as cultural club established to provide a platform to share students’ passion for the Tamil language, culture, and heritage through a wide spectrum of multi-dimensional activities.
• Fine Art Club.
• Computer Society of India (CSI).
• Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE-India).
• Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).

Facilities

Library

• The Central Library is a two-storied building built on a land area of 1,02,000 sq. feet fully air-conditioned with a seating capacity of 1000.
• The Library has 72,108 volumes in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Arts, Management, and Education.
• The library subscribes to  112 journals and magazines at the national and international level and online journals of IEEE, ASCE, and ASTM-Digital Library.
• The Library has an audio-video room for students to learn at their own pace.
• The library houses 3406 project reports and 1787 back volumes in the reference section.
• The library is automated with MODERN LIB software which is used for acquisition, book transactions, OPAC, and administration.
• All the book transactions are computerized through the Bar Code system.

Transport

• The University has a fleet of 40 buses and two vans to transport students and staff members.
• The bus terminuses include Krishnankoil, Srivilliputtur, Rajapalayam, Sivakasi, Madurai, Watrap, and University campus.
• Besides the regularly scheduled trips, the facility is extended for occasions like after the college hour Special Coaching Classes, Visit to Local Industries, hospitals, NSS Camps, etc.
