The University's main campus spreads over 100 hectares adjacent to the Adyar River on the north and Raj Bhavan on the south.

 

The Madras Institute of Technology at Chrompet constitutes the second campus of the University which extends over 20 hectares.

 

A third campus extending over 80 hectares is located at Taramani near the Instronic campus, Adyar.

Since December 2001,it has become a large, highly renowned Affiliated University, having brought into its fold about 426 Self-financing Engineering Colleges six Government Colleges and three Government-aided Engineering colleges located in various parts of Tamilnadu State.

Facilities :

Hydraulics Laboratory:

This laboratory is equipped with advanced instrumentation with a capacity to undertake full ground water investigation such as Theodolite with Electronic Distance Meter, Rotary Ring, Terra Very Low Frequency (TVLF) and Terrameter.

 

The University Library:

The library is housed in a three storeyed new Building located at the eastern side in the main campus. The total area of the Library building is about 4122 sq.m30 video cameras are placed at strategic points in the library for surveillance.

 

The MIT campus also has a library of area 1256 sq.m. Around 10,157 registered uses are in access of the library.Many knowledge-based services like that of Reference, Bibliography, MALIBNET service., DELNET, Reprography, CD-ROM Databases, Internet browsing and e-services are provided by the library for its users.

Logistics: The Centre has two vehicles, a 24 seater Swaraj Mazda mini bus and an Ambassador Car to facilitate academic and training programmes.

 

Field Laboratory: It is used for the demonstration of irrigation structures and for crop-based field experimentation by the faculty and students.

Scholorships :

To encourage students to take up various research activities in this University, the University is granting many scholarships to the students. The PG students are being benefitted from all means. The path is getting easier because the University is giving all the funds that are needed for the completion of the research works.

A fifty numbers of research fellowships are provided every year. The stipend stands at Rs. 12, 000/- per month. The amount is not a matter of joke. It is because of this facility that the University is scaling new heights of success in the fields of research.

Rs. 25, 000/- per year (as contingent grant) is given to each and every scholar. It is given of three years (maximum). The amount is high so that the scholars can get encouraged to perform their works well.

      Anna university is a great place for education it offers so many placement both to the core industries and also IT industries. Campus placements starts during 7th Sem itself. For my department we had so many chemical industries such as Reliance petroleum ,ITC ,CUMI,Sanmar,MPL and IT industries such as IBM,Accenture,CTS,zoho,musigma,Infosys,Amazon,eBay,etc for our recruitment year. Also offer Hostel & Mess Facilities. anna university both the Faculty of engineering and Faculty of technology are good. They offer so much research based and also interactive laboratory session to help out each individual. Campus life and environment is too good for education. Diversity of gender equals. Anna University Chennai have builtin RCC which is Ramanujan Computing Center for computing at 24*7 offers internet for good education and technology update of individual. Sports Board there it offers so many games such as Cricket,foodball,Rugby, hockey, volleyball, tennis,basketball, Running etc. It has been a great experience during my internship . Me and my colleague did our internship at Asia's largest sea water desalination plant located at Minjur ,Chennai. It was a great experience with the desalination operation and discharge of water to Chennai city . we learned a lot during our internship. Anna university is a government college so it offers so many scholarship for each caste and also CM award scholarship for good mark scored candidate at 12th std. During my college I have availed SC caste scholarship and also I have scored good mark at my 12th std so I received CM award Scholarship every year of my four year degree.

      Candidate Must be Clearing the minimum cut-off in Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) exam. And pass in the HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together as given below: General Category: 50%; BC (including Backward Class Muslim): 45%; MBC & DNC: 40%; SC/SCA/ST: 40%. Admission Through TNCPEE Entraance Exam.
