About College

NIT Srinagar was one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges established by the Govt. of India during the first 5 year plan. The institute is at the banks of the famous Dal Lake on one side and holy Hazratbal Shrine on other, giving its students a peaceful and serene environment to achieve excellence in their field. It is well equiped with each modern facilities. The curriculum keeps on updating time to time as per the requirement. Students are deputed for a compulsory 6-8 weeks Practical Training in an industry or on a project to familiarize with the actual industrial environment and to enhance their practical skills.

National Institute of Technology, Srinagar is the only technical institute of national importance in the state of Jammu & Kashmir and is one of the premier technical institutes of India.

The institute strives to produce engineering graduates of high quality who are team players, accountable, resourceful and above all, technically competent. The curriculum is designed to cater to the needs and aspirations of the industry, and our top class faculty ensures that the students acquire and develop the necessary technical and decision making skills to be leaders in the dynamic world of industry.

Campus Life :

Techvaganza : Techvaganza is the annual college festival of NIT Srinagar. Its an exceptional confluence of exquisite cultural displays with technological innovations reverberating in an aura filled with excitement and amusement.

MAPS NIT Srinagar : To publish the Institution Newsletter (One each in Spring & Fall semesters), to manage various co-curricular activities, to provide a platform for Students and Faculty discussion, MAPS binds all these purposes into one.

Concursomania : Biggest quiz of NIT Srinagar and one of the biggest in North India organised by the student volunteers, open for the participants all over India.

Adventure Sports : In collaboration with N.A.F, NIT Srinagar organizes many adventurous events like para-sailing, rock climbing, mountaineering, etc. to enrich students with several different life experiences.

Technical Activities : Google Student Ambassador programme,#Include, Fulcrum, PRISM Tepp Sensitization, Guest Lectures, Aerotrix, Technolphilia Workshop MATLAB FORUM , CAD FORUM.

Societies and Student's Chapter : Institution of Engineers (IE), Mechanical Engineer's Society (M.E.S), Institution of Civil Engineers (I.C.E.), Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), IET, IETE.

Clubs : NrITya, Abhivyakti, Music club, Drama Club, Debate Club, Robotics club are run by the students.

Inter NIT Sports Meet : Every year one of the NIT hosts the Sports meet where students from all over NITs participate in the meet.

Cultural Activities : The institute organises cultural events like founder's day, freshers, farewell and festivals for students and faculty every year. The events are managed by the students under the guidance of the faculty associated.
