About College

Madras School of Economics (MSE) was established with the vision of promoting quality teaching and research in the field of economics. It has a vision of becoming a deemed university with complete autonomy, in the long run. MSE aims to become an international Centre of Excellence in Economics and develop students into economists, research analysts, consultants and leaders in their respective careers. It is a well-known institute with excellent infrastructure, state of the art library, dedicated faculty and staff and a sprawling campus attached to the Anna University of Chennai.

  • Vision for the future: Madras School of Economics aims to become an International Centre of Excellence in economic studies and attract students and teachers all over the world to pursue their studies in the economics field, receive doctorates and do research in the various fields of economics. MSE also aims to provide well-researched technical and policy papers in developmental economics, international economics, econometrics and other fields of economics.
  • Nature of the Institute: NAAC has accredited MSE with the 'A' Grade. The Ministry of Environment and Forests has acknowledged MSE as a Centre of Excellence in Environmental Economics. With these accreditations, the Madras school of Economics is now closer to its long-term vision. Initially established by a group of academicians and industrialists as a private institution for economic studies, MSE is now looking forward to getting approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
