About College

The Technological Institute of Textile and Sciences popularly known as TIT&S was established in 1943 by the great visionary and recipient of Padma Vibhushan Dr. G. D. Birla under the committee called 'TITS College Managing Committee'.

• The courses are approved by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Haryana and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
• The institute has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA)
• The educational establishment is well known for its research in the field of textiles and other streams
• In order to train the students under working conditions the institute has attached to a textile mill. It also helps the students in conducting research

Research

The research carries out by the faculty and scholars have got published in a number of journals in both India and abroad. Some of the research topics are:

•    Performance characteristics of mercerized ring and compact spun yarns produced at varying level of twist and traveler

•    V Effect of Fiber x-Sectional shape on handle characteristics of polyester - viscose and polyester  cotton ring and MJS yarn Fabrics

Over the period of 70 years the institute has given a number of alumni, some of the noted ones among them are:

•    D.R. Mehta who is the President in Textile Associations (India).

•    VK Ladia, Chairman in Rajasthan Syntex, Durgapur.

•    IHJS Siddhu who is the CEO of  Vardhaman Group of Industries, Ludhiana.

•    DK Mahajan who is the CEO of Nehar Industrial Enterprise Ltd.

Placement

The institute has great placements 100% in case of Textile branch and 85% in other branches.

Extra Curricular Activities

• Technical Society: The society helps the students by exposing them to the difficulties in various fields and also indulging them in co curricular and extracurricular activities

• Dramatics Society: It is responsible for organizing various cultural events like teachers day, alumni meet, farewell and fresher’s day

• Recreational Society: It circulates reading material like magazines and newspapers

• TIT&S Computer Society: The society provides a platform where students can showcase their new and innovative ideas. It conducts events like paper-presentation, quizzes, software design, etc

• Maverick Society: The society lays stress on developing unorthodox nature of students and setting them free to expand their skills

• Orators: This society puts emphasis on improving the communication skills. A number of activities like group discussions, extempore, declamation and debates are organized

• Students Council: The council which managed the student activities and related affairs

Ranked 2nd in Haryana, 66th in India among top 100 Most Admired Non-IIT Engineering Colleges - Education World (May-2014).

• Four scholarships are given annually by TITIAN’s 1990 charitable trust

• Merit scholarships are given to Top 2 students of each branch each class

• Upto 50% Concession in Tuition Fees and Development Fees is given to 6 staff wards

• Best Sports Person Award is given to one student annually

• Best Academician Award is given to one student annually

• Award for Best Performance in Cultural Activities is given to one student annually
