Sree Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology and Science (SVITS) was established in the 1998 under the aegis of Jayanthi Educational Society. The college is affiliated to  Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad and approved by AICTE

• The college offers 6 Undergraduate courses with 420 students and 4 Postgraduate courses with intake of 156 students
• The campus is sprawling over an area of 32 acres
• SVITS is located at which is 18KM away from Mahabubnagar District Head Quarters on Hyderabad. The The nearest Airport is Hyderabad
• The college is one of 32 colleges in the state which is selected in 2004–05 for hosting JKC programmers initiated through IEG

• Engineers’ day- The college celebrates Engineers’ day annually on 15th September
• Technical Paper Contest- A National Level Technical Paper Contest, "SVITS QUEST - 2008" was celebrated in the college
• N.S.S- N.S.S of the college organizes various activities including a Health Check up Medical Camp and a voluntary Blood Donation Camp with the assistance of SVS Hospital & Red Cross Society
• Cultural & Literary Activities- Various cultural and literary activities are conducted in the campus
• Workshops- SVITS organizes numerous workshops such as a Two-Day work shop on “Recent Advances on Information Security” and on "Prospective areas of research in Mechanical Engineering and related approaches"
