About College

Govt. Model Engineering College, Thrikkakara (MEC) is an engineering institute established in Thrikkakara near Kochi,Kerala in 1989 by IHRD.

• It is first self-financing college to be established by the Govt. Of Kerala
• It is first to be affiliated with Cochin University of Science And Technology and its courses are approved by AICTE
• It has been constantly ranked at top in various surveys in Kerala
• It was ranked 5^th in terms of industrial interaction by MINT magazine
• It  offers 4 undergraduate and 5 post graduate courses
• It has a campus of 14 acres located about 12 KM away from heart of Kochi city
• College main building design is influence by the first Indian satellite “Aryabhatta”
• College has 200+ faculty,2000 students and 50 supporting staff
• Admissions are based on Kerala Engineering  Entrance Exam

ECell: It is entrepreneur ship forum developed with an objective to encourage entrepreneurship among students. It conducts workshops and seminars about cooperate world

Library: College library has good collections of books. It has over 16000 books and 60 journals.

Hostel: College has men’s hostel which can accommodate 240 students. The hostel boasts of a  multi- gym, a badminton court, football ground, volleyball court.

Festivals:

Excel: It is annual managerial fest of MEC conducted in association with IEEE. It is platform for stdents to showcase their talent in technical field.

Technopreneur: This event is organized by E-Cell MEC in association with Yi Net MEC and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) is national level annual entrepreneurship summit
