About College

Bengal College of Engineering and Technology (BCET) is a private engineering college located in Durgapur district of West Bengal. It was established by SKS Educational and Social Trust in 2001. BCET is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT)

  • It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering and Technology. All the courses are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE)
  • BCET has got the coveted NBA Accreditation for all of its eligible courses and  the it has also attained ISO 9001:2008 certification
  • BCET offers undergraduate courses in nine disciplines, postgraduate courses in five disciplines including MBA and MCA programs.
  • There are nine other colleges that are associated with BCET
  • BCET has been honored by ABP NEWS National Education Awards 2014 with "OUTSTANDING ENGINEERING INSTITUTE (EAST)" for three years in a row: 2012, 2013 & 2014.
  • BCET campus is located on a sprawling land of about 25 acres and it is only about a kilometer away from the main G.T Road. Its vast infrastructure includes latest teaching-learning system, well equipped labs, and separate facilitated hostels for boys and girls etc.
  • BCET has also been praised by the Government of West Bengal for achieving high standards in technical education.

Admission Procedure:

  • Admissions to undergraduate engineering courses are made through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-MAIN) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. 
  • Admissions through Lateral Entry for Diploma Holders in the 2nd year of the B. Tech program is limited to a maximum 20% of the sanctioned intake in each discipline
  • Eligibility Criteria for undergraduate engineering courses is , at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together (40% for reserved category) and with at least 30% marks in English (for all category of candidates) with individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Vernacular (or any other fifth subject).   
  • Admissions to MBA program are made through MAT/ WB-JEMAT (conducted by the West Bengal Board of Examination) qualifiers. Selections are made through GD/PI and on the basis of academic performance plus score obtained at MAT/WB-JEMAT examination.
  • Admissions to MCA program are made through an Entrance Examination (JECA) and counseling conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). There is a provision of up to 10% seats to be filled up through Management Quota.

Placement Statistics: BCET has a well-organized Training & Placement Cell. The Cell organizes summer and winter training of students in Industries, Industry visits and Industry based Project work, free in- house software training courses and placement of pre-final /final year students in reputed Companies. Facilities: BCET provides all the necessary facilities to the students. Some of them are mentioned below-

  • Library- BCET Central Library has a collection of over 56100 volumes of books with 5824 titles of different subjects. Besides this, the Central Library has 1800 CD’s. The OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) has been made available in the library and any search viz. authors, titles etc. can be made through it. The Central Library has also been networked with the DELNET and is a member of American Resource Centre, Kolkata to facilitate the resource sharing with other libraries and ILL (Inter Library LAN).
  • Hostels- There are two girls’ hostels and two boys’ hostel inside the BCET campus. Vikram Sarabhai Boys’ Hostel is having a capacity of 670 boys and Homo J. Bhabha Boys’ hostel can accommodate 200 boys students. Kalpana Chawla Girls’ Hostel is having capacity of accommodating 520 girls and Sunita Williams Girls’ Hostel is having a capacity of accommodating 402 girls.
  • Computer Center- BCET has seven computer labs (with 32 HP Desktops each) with 1.5 mbps fiber Internet connectivity. There also is an Internet lab with 15 computers having 2 mbps leased line connectivity.
  • Conference Hall- BCET also have a centrally air-conditioned conference hall having a seating capacity of 300 persons equipped with all the sound and mic systems as well as projectors (LCD & OHP).
