Baring Union Christian College (BUCC) was established in the year 1878. The institute is affiliated to guru nanak university, Amritsar. The institution is a historic and renowned co-educational institution catering to the needs of the students by providing quality higher education. The college has tried to imbibe the values of multiculturalism keeping in view the pluralistic fabric of the great nation. The college is united endeavor of the Christian community in India for promoting rural life and development in conformity with Christian vision of human kind and the creation.The college seeks to be a national centre of professional excellence in education and service to the people with the participation of students and faculty members

  • The college is located in Batala (Punjab) on the Batala-Jalandhar road, one and half kilometer from the bus stand and close to the historic tomb of Shamsher Khan

Extracurricular Activities:

The college is well enrolled in the extracurricular activities. There are various co-curricular programs that are in the college

  • Youth welfare program- The Department of Youth Welfare attempts to provide maximum opportunities and create conditions for students to develop into better and balanced personalities. In collaboration with the Directorate of Youth Services Punjab, the college organize various types of co-curricular activities for students to exhibit their talents
  • National Cadet Corps- This Program offers an opportunity to cadets to develop character. The syallabus includes all the weapons training, map reading, drill first-aid citizenship
  • National service scheme- The activities of this NSS includes the social welfare and develoment training. Students takes part in special campaigns against socio-economic problems
  • Youth red cross- The YRC group has been working in the college since 2009-10. Its programs basically includes promoting humanitarian principles and values
  • Games and Sports- Games and Sports are considered an integral part of modern education and training for healthy life. The college follows a planned program for sports activities. The college encourages practically all the games and sports recognized by the University. It maintains well kept play grounds for hockey, football, basketball, cricket, tennis, badminton, and boxing. There is a also a 400 meter track. The sports department of Government of Punjab has selected Baring College as a subcentre for hockey, basketball, cricket and athletics
  • Students Christian Movement- As a church related college, Baring College encourages religious/spiritual growth by participation in the Students Christian Movement. Participation in worship service is however, voluntary. There is no religious restriction on students seeking admission.
