Entrance Exam & Admissions

It takes from AIEEE and WBUT,Joint both. My rank was during 2009 was 10,000 in joint entrance

Placements & Internship

There were no internship during our days. We had to look for Industrial training on our own. Placements were good. TCS recruited most of the Student along with Mindtree. Companies like Vardhan and Verizon also came for placements. Salar package was 3.18. Prior to placements proper training was provided to the students.

Entrance Exam & Admissions

Eligibility is a passing certificate of class 12th with 50% minimum marks or a diploma holder to get a lateral entry.

Placements & Internship

Placement is decent. (CTC in the range 3-3.5 lacs) TCS being the main recruiter, opportunities for other companies are there as well but once you are placed in one company (TCS mostly) you cannot sit for other companies (reason being other students who are not placed yet should get that opportunity). More importantly the other companies coming thereby mostly don't recruit much citing reasons as they are not industry ready or most of them have communication lag. One might also argue that the better lot has gone to a mass recruiter, so other companies do not have much options to choose. Overall more than 50-60% of the students get placed from departments like CSE or ECE. Rest if you have the caliber you will get placed somewhere (Although I have seen that too not working out for some). Internship - Not very likely. If you apply through online portals like internshala, naukri, monster etc. you may find some decent opportunities (again probability stays low). Also the college won't give you a 3 or 6 month leave unless you are in final year (wink wink). Work hard, build your CV rigorously to get an internship. It's not the fault of the college though, most of the students studying here will simply come to attend classes and pass exams in the hope of getting placement in the end. But what about skill development, you cannot blame the college after 4 years that instead of working on your skills and doing something in those 4 years you were just attending classes. Do courses online, learn from the online world, do competitive coding in platforms like codechef, github also try do do as many courses from Coursera(you can get free certificate using financial aid), edx etc. At the end you have got to be the black sheep, by now you must have gotten the idea that you are literally in a rat race, try to be a fast rat for your own survival.

Fees & Scholarships

Fees will be around 40,000 per semester, loan you can get from any bank. Scholarships are given by West Bengal university listed colleges, our college included, if and only if you are a resident of West Bengal over the past 10 years and your family annual income is less than 1 lakh. In this case you have to pay just 5000 instead of 40,000.

Academics & Faculty

You will find both gold and copper in terms of faculty. Some of the faculties are good, they will even give their time for you individually if you want to learn something (my HOD during the time, being that kind of person around 2013-15ish). Some are just there to offer a lousy lecture, if you are attentive to grab, you can, else rely on the last year papers of exam(questions mostly come from them). Practicals again are for the sake of it, complete the mentioned practicals in the syllabus and that's pretty much it. This is the condition of almost all colleges throughout India so dont keep your expectations too high. You won't become a scientist launching rockets in the near future after passing out of the college. Very few faculties you will find that can grab your attention as you will love their classes for the kind you knowledge show that they put out.

College Infrastructure

The labs, library are okay ish, not too great. If they say there is a sports complex, there is none. Just a ground and a basketball court and that's pretty much it. Hostels do have indoor games but besides carrom I have hardly found someone playing something else. Wifi facility is there in hostels now although during our times it wasn't. Gym too has started operating now near the canteen.

Food Services & Hostel

Horrible - everything. I am a 2016 pass out and during the first year hostel stay I have suffered through the ugly mess food, the ragging in hostels, the overall hygiene of the place. Although ragging has drastically reduced now and the food quality is also improving as they say. The canteen is not very great and normal food you will find (thali mostly) that too was a reason for horror and frustration (but most colleges provide you with the same trauma, don't they?).
