About College

Arambagh Girls´ College was established on 30th August, 1995 with aim of imparting higher education to girl. The college offers Bachelor degree programmes in various fields of Arts. The college started with just 101 students studying the General Course curriculum. Well-wishing teachers of the neighbouring colleges offered their selfless support in the form of taking classes without remuneration.

  • Facilities-The major facilities at campus are library with a huge collection of books, journals and magazines, computer lab with excellent internet facilities, state-of-the-art classrooms with the most modern facilities etc.
  • Students´ Aid Fund-Poor and meritorious students are provided with Tuition Fee Concessions at the sole discretion of the college authorities. Government scholarships are awarded to students belonging to SC, ST, Minority and Physically Handicapped categories. The Fund also helps general students from economically weak families.
  • Learning Resource-The library being of great significance in the teaching-learning activities of the college its collection of Textbooks and Reference Books is regularly upgraded on the basis of suggestions from teachers and students. Efforts are currently being made to computerize the library activities and the college has already applied for a standard software for this purpose.
  • National Service Scheme - the inception of the NSS in the college on 8 December 1999 added a new chapter to the history of Arambagh Girls´ College. The NSS Units uphold the need for self-less service in recognition of the fundamental truth that individual welfare is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole.
