About College

Vardhman Mahavir Medical College was established in November 2001 at Safdarjang hospital and six years later on 20th November 2007, the College building was dedicated to the nation. The college has been recognized  by the Medical Council of India and is affiliated to Guru Govind Singh I P University, Delhi.

Library :

The library of VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital is housed in a three storied building in an area of 2700 sq. feet. The ground floor is for the reading purpose and is open round the clock for the students & faculty of the college & hospital. 1st and 2nd floor consists of a large collection of books counting over 17,000 of all subjects dealing in medical education, nursing and laboratory technicians. The students and staff can avail the facility of 122 journals (91 International and 31 Indian).

Research Activities:

Research activities are going on along with the regular clinical work and are undertaken on regular basis in different departments of the hospital. Many of these research works are published in National and international medical journals. The research activities are often in coordination with ICMR, DST & WHO.

College Festival :

The official annual festival of Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjang Hospital is Nirvana. It was first organized in the year 2004 where many celebrities were present and bands like Indian Ocean, Toshi performed for the audience. Many other institutes also participated in the fest.

Services Available At The Hospital :

The hospital provides various services in almost all the major disciplines like Nephrology, Respiratory Medicine, Burns & Plastics, Neurology, Urology, CTVS, Pediatric Surgery, gastroenterology, Cardiology, Arthroscopy and Sports Injury clinic, Diabetic Clinic, Thyroid Clinic and lots more. Further, it has two Whole Body CT Scanner, MRI, Color Doppler, Digital X‐ray, Cardiac Cath. Lab, Multi load CR system and Digital OPG X‐ray Machine. A Homoeopathic OPD and Ayurvedic OPD are also running with in this hospital premises.
