About College

The College of Engineering, Trivandrum was established in 1939 by Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, the Maharaj of Travancore. It is the first Engineering College in the Travancore State.

  • The institution owes its foundation to the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited both undergraduate and post-graduate programs of the College.
  • The College was shifted to the present sprawling 125 acres in 1960.
  • The College ranks among the top in the country in the quality of its graduates and the number of top jobs held by its graduates.

Facilities and Extra-Curricular Activities:

College of Engineering Alumni Association (CETAA)

  • It was formed in 1976 with the aim of offering programs that will be mutually beneficial.
  • 4000 former students are life members of the association.

Centre for Engineering Research and Development (CERD)

  • It’s established by the Government of Kerala for the faculty and students of engineering colleges to pursue their interest in basic and applied research in Engineering and Technology.
  • It is registered under Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955 as an autonomous society.

Library

Each department has its own technical library of more than 10,000 books and periodicals.

 In addition, there is a College Technical Library. With a large collection of books, periodicals, and reports, the library serves the needs of the staff and students of this College as a whole.

The total number of books in various sections are

  • Lending section :50,000
  • Reference section :20,000
  • Book bank: 11,900
  • Back volumes : 10,000
  •  Current periodicals: 50

CET Technology Business Incubation Cell

  • Its mission is to develop and promote innovative ideas and the application of in-house research developments in the service of humanity.
  • CET-TBI is the initiative of the College of Engineering Trivandrum supported by the Govt. of Kerala and the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

Entrepreneurship Club

  • It nurtures the entrepreneurship skills of the students.
  • The club organizes seminars and short-term training programs for the students.

Achievements:

  • The Chief Minister of Kerala released the CETAA GLOBAL Meet LOGO on 14th August 2014, the meet is scheduled for 8th and 9th of November 2014.
  • College of Engineering Trivandrum is honored with the award for Best Government Engineering College by the popular Hindi TV media ABP News, formerly Star News Channel.
  • Sri Pranab Mukherjee Inaugurated Platinum Jubilee Celebrations on 18 July 2014
  • For the First Time in the History  of C E T a Gold Medalist was bagged in the Kerala University2013-2014  Inter-Collegiate Athletic Championship held at University Stadium, Trivandrum on 27th to 29 of Nov: 2013
  • Individual Champion for 2013-2014 in the Kerala University Inter Collegiate Women’s Chess Championship Held at NSS College, Nilamel, Kollam
