The University of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India was established in 1921. The idea of starting a University at Lucknow was first mooted by Raja Sir Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan, Khan Bahadur, K.C.I.E. of Mahmudabad, who contributed an article to the columns of "The Pioneer'' urging the foundation of a University at Lucknow.

Highlights:- 

  • Sir Harcourt Butler, the Lt. Governor of the United Provinces, took up the cause of the proposal.
  • The foremost venture to carry the University into being was taken when a General Committee of persons and educationists gathered at Government House, in Lucknow, in November, 1919.
  • Different accreditations incorporate National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC); National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE); Bar Council of India (BCI).
  • ​The University had established itself as a respected seat of learning and was especially famous for the teaching of English Literature.
  • University of Lucknow is one of the largest universities in India with over 101 affiliated colleges and over 100,000 students.

Research & Academic Collaborations:

  • In negotiation with Harvard University, Boston, USA for a research project.
  • “A Collaborative Volume on UP Economy”, by Prof. Arvind Mohan,University of Lucknow, Shri Alok Ranjan, APC & IIDC, Govt. Of UP & Prof. Akshay Mangla, Harvard University, USA (in Print).
  • Industries like L & T, WIPRO, TCS, Reliance are mentors to different LU-IMS programs.
  • In negotiation with University of Nebraska, Omaha,USA for the starting collaborative an MBA Program (Jointly).
  • In discussion on startup of a specialized MBA program with Sugar Technology Association of India with assured placement.

National Cadet Corps (NCC): NCC is a Tri-Services Organization, Navy and Air Force, comprising the Army, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. It has completed 60 years of glory in the service of the nation.

National Service Scheme (NSS): Lucknow University is one of the 37 Universities in India, where NSS was launched in 1969,the Birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi. L.U. NSS started its career in 1970-71 with involvement of 1400 students. Now it has more than 15.000 volunteers. It has about 115 trained programme officers. The scheme being operative spreads to 32 degree colleges affiliated to the University. The main activities of the scheme include:

  • National Harmony
  • Adoption of villages and slums for cleanliness and literacy drives
  • Environmental conservation
  • AIDS Awareness programme
  • Health and Immunization/Participation in pulse polio drive.
  • Organisation of Exhibitions.
  • Winter Relief/Cold relief/Flood Relief
  • Training of Programme Officers.

Facilities:

  • Tagore Library: It is the Central Research library of the University. It is respected as one of the oldest, well organised and richest libraries of India.
  • Central Facility for computational Research (CFCR) (Computer Cluster): It has been established from the funds received from the University Grants Commission, New Delhi under the scheme additional assistance to Universities covered under section 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956. The CFCR Computer cluster contains one master node and five compute nodes. Each node consists of 16 processors making a total of 96 cores. The softwares that are currently installed are Gaussian 09, MATLAB and Mathematica. 
  • Auditorium: The Auditorium is the home to all the big events that take place in the University. From Seminars to conferences, Cultural programs to fests, everything is held in the auditorium.
  • Hostel:- The University has sixteen hostels and provides separate accommodation for boys and girls.The hostel rooms are allotted on twin-sharing basis and the present capacity is nearly 3000 inmates.

      Our University offer Separate placement cell & There are 60-70% placements record in the college rest of the students have to find the jobs on their own the college calls many of the famous companies like Wipro, telco, ibm, Microsoft etc which recruit excellent students ho are doing well in their studies.
