About College

Dr.Balasaheb Sawant KonkanKrishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli was formerly known as SawantKonkanKrishiVidyapeeth but was named after Dr. Balasaheb on 12th Feb 2001. It was started by the Government of Maharashtra on 18th May 1972. It is actively involved in conducting Research work on location specific fertility problems and to improve crop production technologies. Its primary objective was to fulfill the Educational & Research needs of the Konkan region.

  • 19 colleges running 1550 UG & PG programs in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Raigad comes under its jurisdiction
  • It is recognized under the University Grants Commission (UGC)

Researches:

National Agriculture Innovative Project (NAIP) –

  • A value chain for Kokum, Karonda, Jamun and Jackfruit
  • Development and maintenance of rice knowledge management Portal

Rajiv Gandhi Science & Technology Commission –

  • Pilot Scale Demonstration of Value Added Products from Acetes using its functional properties
  • Community based adoption and management of fresh water

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna –

  • Transfer of Integrated Crop Management Technologies
  • Establishment of Farm Machinery Testing and Production Centre

Extracurricular Activities:

National Service Scheme (NSS) – 1200 students are NSS volunteers from 12 colleges.
