Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad was established in 1958. The university was inaugurated by Late Shri.  Jawaharlal Nehru, prime minister of India with an objective to disseminates create, and preserve knowledge and understanding by teaching, research, extension and service, and by effective demonstration and influence of its corporate, extension, and society. .It is one of the oldest premier universities established by the Maharashtra state government after Mumbai and Pune Universities

Paithan, the ancient Pratisthan of Eknath and Maharubhav fame, is 34 miles away.
