National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra is one of the thirty National Institutes of Technology established and administered by Government of India. It has been accredited with the status of Institute of National Importance. NIT, Kurukshetra was established in the year of 1963 as a joint and cooperative enterprise of Govt. Of India and State Govt. of Haryana to serve best quality training in the field of technology to the students of the state of Haryana as well as the whole nation.

• The institute campus is located about 10 km from Pipli, which is 168 km north of New Delhi and about 5 km from Kurukshetra Railway station.
• It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy program in Engineering, Sciences and Humanities
• NIT Kurukshetra is visited by a large number of recruiters every year. Some major companies that visit the institute are Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Deloitte, Epic Systems, Oracle, Ubisoft, BirlaSoft, Adobe, Yahoo!, Pangea3, HCL, Accenture, Infosys etc

Extracurricular: NIT students are indulged in many technical, cultural and managerial events throughout the year. There are societies for every technical event associated with each branch. Some of these technical and cultural clubs are-

Festivals: Following are the major festivals that take place at NIT Kurukshetra every year-  

• Techspardha- It is the main technical festival of the institute. Various technology-based activities and competitions are organized and a large of students take part in these events thus adding to its popularity.
• Confluence- It is the annual cultural event and one of the most anticipated events in North India. Many colleges from the state as well as from the other parts of the nation take part in Confluence. It is a 3 days long event and has been visited by some of the most famous artists and personalities of the county in the past few years

Ranking:

Scholarship: The National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra offers various performance-linked awards and scholarships to the meritorious students of the institution. Various honors and awards are:

• University Medal and Merit certificate for the toppers of the institution is given to the students of B.Tech who obtain the highest score in the final by clearing all the exams at one go.
• Gold medal is given along with a cash prize of INR 5000 to the student who secures a 1st position in the final exam.
• 'Best All-Rounder' Award.
• Award for Technical Working Model.
