About College

Gujarat as a state has always been a model of development owing to its great number of engineering colleges and other universities producing experts and professionals. The Indian Institute of Technology in the capital is an example of the glorious reputation of Gujarat in the field of higher education. The institute came into existence in the year 2008.

• The institute is situated in Chandkheda which is not too far from Gandhinagar as also from Ahmadabad.
• Established quite recently in the year 2008, the institute has made a prominent mark in the field of technology and engineering education.
• At present, the institute offers courses such as B. Tech and M. Tech in various disciplines and also focuses on social science and humanities programs as well.
• The present campus of the institute is housed at the Vishwakarma Government Engineering College in Chandkheda however the new campus at Gandhinagar is nearing completion.
• Research works are highly encouraged in the institute as it realizes the importance of extensive research in various fields for the ideal development of a nation.
• Ph. D degrees are awarded to the students in disciplines like Civil, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Management etc.
• The programs offered at the IIT have also been given approval by the AICTE providing authentication to its courses.

Research & Development Programs

IIT-Gandhinagar has recently collaborated with the Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for research works in the areas of signal and image processing, electronics, & electro-optical systems modeling.

• Dry coating of nano-additives for energy-efficient cement linearization (Chemical Engineering).
• Experimental & theoretical investigations of polymerization- grade sthylene synthesis (Chemistry).
• Characterization of Rotational Seismic Excitation (Civil Engineering).
• Experimental studies of metastability in different synchronizers(Electrical Engineering).

Extra-Curricular

At IIT Gandhinagar, the students get fine opportunities to get engaged in a number of activities apart from just academic which ensures their moral, mental, physical as well as intellectual growth.

• Green Run – organized in support of the green initiatives of the country.
• SPIC MACAY cultural programs.

The university students have also formed various clubs that organize different types of events and competitions on the campus. Some of the clubs are:

Facility

Scholarships

•  Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship is aimed at extending financial support to students who are meritorious but is from an economically weak background (Rs.1,000/- p.m.).
•  Free basic messing and pocket allowance of Rs.250 is awarded to all SC/ST students whose parents' annual income is not more than Rs. 4,50,000.
• This scholarship is awarded to the students who secure the highest CPI in their respective disciplines every year. All the awardees are eligible for Rs.2,000/- p.m. for ten months.
