About College

D.D. Shinde Sarkar College, Kolhapur was established in 1988 by Dr. Abasaheb Shinde, founder of Saraswati Shinde Education Society. It is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur and accredited by NAAC with B grade. The college started when the education department of Government of Maharashtra graciously granted permission to the society to begin an English medium Arts and Commerce College at Kolhapur in the academic year 1990-91.

Extracurricular Activities

  • NCC: The College has the only college to have the Naval NCC Unit in the jurisdiction of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The College enrolls 50 Boys and 10 Girls in our Naval NCC Unit every year
  • NSS: The strength of the unit of NSS is 100. The N.S.S. unit undertakes various social activities like Blood Donation Camps, Tree Plantation, rallies for creating social awareness on such issues as ‘Save Girl Child’, Save Environment. AIDs Awareness and also organize special Social Service camp for ten days at the village level etc
  • Socratic Club: The primary objective of this Club is to bring about all round development of students. In this Club students and teachers discuss everything under the sun, within the bounds of decency. The Club makes the students of our college confident, modern in their outlook, thought and action and proficient in public speaking.

      Student must have passing HSC Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, pune or its equivalent examination is eligible for admission to the first year of the senior college in Arts / Commerce.
