About College

DAV College Jalandhar established in 1918 in the sacred memory of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati to impart modern knowledge alongwith the Vedic traditions to the youth of contemporary India. It is affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The institution has grown into an academic giant in the last 95 years of its matchless service of growth and grooming of youth of this part of the country. DAV College Jalandhar, at present, is one of the largest academic centres of North India imparting instructions in Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Food Science & Technology and Media Studies. It is recognized by University Grants Commission.

Placement

The Training & Placement cell has been instrumental in placing more than 1500 brilliant students with the visiting companies since 2008 which speaks volumes about the energy, initiative and enthusiasm of the entire team of placement cell.

Extracurricular Activities

  • National Cadet Corps: The College has two wings; one is Army wings with 215 cadets and second wings with 100.
  • National Services Scheme: The College has four units of NSS, each consists of 100 volunteers
  • Societies and Clubs: As many as 31 subject Societies, Associations and Clubs are active in the College. They organize lectures, declamation contests, exhibitions, poetical symposia, educational film shows, dramas and tours for personality enhancement of the students.

Library

  • The Library has more than 2,00,000 text and reference books on various subjects
  • It has a large number of CD’s, DVD’s and multimedia aids
  • It has recently added ‘e-resource lab’ for readers
  • Library subscribes to 93 periodicals of National and International Repute and 24 Newspapers
  • Library is a member of (INFLIBNET) Information & Library Network Centre and DELNET (Developing Library Network)

 

Festivals

  • Talent Hunt: To pick and select building stars, EMA department organizes a Talent Hunt show right in the beginning of the session where the talented newcomers showcase their talent and are chosen to be trained for the youth festivals. The talent hunt show is one of the most eagerly awaited programmes in the college calendar
