Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar was established under National Council Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The provision of pre service professional training for the teacher to be caters to the professional need of students. It has a sprawling green campus. There is also the provision of Research and Development.

• Academic Collaborations- The institute has a tie up with the Nadderud Videregaende Skole, Oslo, Norway which is approved by UNESCO/ ASP Friendship Exchange Program. The exchange programs consist of visiting of the faculty members and students from Norway and vice versa. The students are able to witness the life style of the inhabitants of Norway, and cater mutual understanding, optimism, and perseverance

• Extensive Programs- The extension program works with the NCERT and other agencies. Assistance is provided for teacher training, text book writing, setting the question proper etc. There are also held seminars, conferences and training sessions to help the students cater to the modern approach of teaching. It is also a part of the PAC program

• ICT- It is indeed remarkable that the computer application centre of the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneshwar has been declared by UNESCO, Bangkok as the Resource Centre for ICT in Education. The resources of this centre consist of eBooks, software and projects, computers and laptops to provide the student with the latest technological knowledge
