About College

Rani Birla Girls College is an undergraduate college for women. It was established in 1961 by Hindustan Charity Trust. It is a government aided college affiliated to University of Calcutta. College functions under a democratic governing body with members consisting of representatives from the University of Calcutta, the Higher Education department of the Government of West Bengal, teaching as well as a non-teaching staff and from the students of College. It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is one of the most prestigious women's educational institutions.

RBG College is a complete learning centre with all the modern facilities, updated with the changing needs of the students and education sector.

Extracurricular Activities

  • National Services Scheme: The NSS unit works in association with and under the guidelines set by the NSS unit of the University of Calcutta. It has established linkages with the local police station, with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Ward No.63 and with the NSS unit of St. Xavier’s’ College
  • Gender Sensitization Cell: The Gender Sensitization Cell has established linkage with ‘Ishwarsankalpa’,an NGO working for the mentally ill and homeless women in the streets of Kolkata and with ‘Women’s’ Sahayog’, which provides legal and psychological support to women
  • Internal Quality Assurance System: The College is committed to quality assurance in all activities. Quality assurance, in fact, is inherent in institutional policy. The IQAC has been instrumental in monitoring the quality sustenance and quality enhancement measures adopted by the institution

  • Charity Sale is organized almost every day by students and proceedings are donated to several social service organizations

  • A central computer library complete with internet has been providing IT education and training to all the students
  • Department of Geography has a well organized laboratory equipped with all the modern surveying and mapping instruments
