About College

IRMA was founded in 1979 with the motto of rural development through different programmees.IRMA is located in Anand district of Gujrat. Born out of a maverick's dream IRMA is, today, at the forefront of professionalising the development of India's rural sector.

IRMA provides management training, support and research facilities to students committed to rural development; in this process it has brought within its ambit several co-operatives, non-government organisations, government development agencies, international development organisations and funding agencies.

The Institute's campus is spread over a landscaped 60 acre site adjacent to the Anand Agricultural University . The campus is fully residential equipped with students' hostelsmesslecture hallsseminar roomslibrary, faculty and administrative offices, auditorium, executive training and development centre, faculty and staff housing, dispensary, and other support facilities. The IRMA staff co-operative store caters to the residents' daily necessities.

The institute has within its ambit the following Centers of Excellence, approved by the Government of India:

Center for Sustainable Livelihoods

Center for Rural Infrastructure and Corporate Social Responsibility

Center for Social Entrepreneurship and Enterprises

Center for Public Policy and Governance

 

The above centers in tandem with Think tank Initiative & RBI Endowment Unit, encourage policy oriented research.

Think Tank Initiative :

Multi-donor Program, launched in 2008

Dedicated to strengthening the capacity of independent policy research organizations in the developing world

Managed by Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC)

IRMA is one of the 49 different institutes across East Africa, West Africa, Latin America and South Asia, currently funded under this Initiative

 

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Endowment Unit :

It is the endowment allotted to IRMA for a period of five years from 1st April 1986for the purpose of providing consultancy services to rural enterprises and organizations in co-operative and other sectors with the following objectives:

Apart from the academic Programs, students & faculties benefit from the following IRMA Programs:

Management Development Programs (MDPs)/Training :

These include short term & long term programs, both open as well custom designed to cater the needs of professionals associated with organizations served by IRMA including co-operatives, NGOs, banks, and government and semi-government organizations.

Publication Program :

IRMA’s publication program is a response to the need of charting a unique path in rural management, a rare discipline defined and developed by IRMA. The Institute started this program managed by the Committee on Research Publications and Seminars (CORPAS) to facilitate the dissemination of the Institute's research work.It was realized that the research writings of the faculties in the initial phase, emerging out of research and consultancy projects was of three types namely research reports, case studies and workshop reports. Thus, these became the first three series of publications of CORPAS.

Various Clubs :

IRMA Cycling Club: initiated to simulate a social not-for-profit venture within the campus aimed at learning the basic tenets of running a social venture sustainably without depending on external agencies for support.

Jigyasa: an informal association of quizzers aimed at institutionalizing the quiz culture at IRMA.

IRMA Organic Community Farm: pilot project floated in July 2012 by IRMA students.

Ektanagar Initiative: an initiative to showcase the creativity of Ektanagar children.

ISEC: IRMA’s Social Entrepreneurship Cell aimed at promoting sustainable, ecologically-friendly and the equitable socio-economic development of rural people through professional management.

Terra Firma: a biannual magazine published by the students of IRMA providing an opportunity to the students to explore topics relevant to their interest while giving vent to their creative urge at the same time.

      A unique institute if u really want to do some unique thing in your life, especially in terms of social values!!! If Rural Management is what you wanna do then don't look further.. Because there is nothing beyond IRMA. An excellent institute to learn and live..
