About College

Bongaigaon College, Bongaigaon was established in the year 1964. The college is affiliated to the University of Gauhati. The college got its recognition under UGC Act sec.12b and 2f in December 1970. It is to be considered as a most reputed University of the North –East, Bongaigaon College today can easily stake a claim to be one of the premier colleges in Assam. The Commerce stream was introduced in the year 1978 and the Postgraduate course in the subject of English (M.A.) was added in the year 1991. The college is situated 200 k.m away from Guwahati, the capital city of Assam. The college is located on a semi urban surrounding on a large plot of land measuring 20.91 acres.

Extra Curricular Activities

  • Rover and Ranger Unit - The crew members of the international organization, Scout and Guides Movement are known as Rovers and Rangers. The unit is serving by offering its voluntary services in various activities organized by the college family.
  • NSS - The NSS unit of college consists of 100 volunteers both male and female and divided into four houses - a) Gandhi House, b) Nehru House, c) Netaji House and d) Sarojini House. It has been working and undertaking regular and special activities inside and outside of the College.

Facilities

Auditorium

The college has an auditorium for musical and cultural functions which can accommodate 300 students.

Computer Lab

The college has built up computer laboratory with 15 computers installed with TALLY 9.0 software.

Library

The Central Library of the College has more than 40,000 books apart from periodicals. The library also subscribes to 12 research journals in different subjects.
