About College

Birla College of Art, Science and Commerce was established in 1972 through the dedicated efforts of Kalyan Charity Trust and Kalyan Citizens' Education Society. Kalyan Citizens' Education Society was founded in 1971 through the efforts of prominent citizens of Kalyan and received the benediction of the Late Shri G. D. Birla. The college continues to receive the blessings of Syt. Basant Kumar Birla - Chairman, B. K. Birla Group of Companies and Dr. (Smt.) Sarala Birla.

  • The college campus is spread over 20 acres in the prime locality of Kalyan City (54 kms from Mumbai). The distance from Kalyan railawy station to birla college is 3km

  • Lawsone was isolated by Dr. Naresh Chandra and Dr. (Mrs.) Moitreyee Saha under UGC Major Research Project “In Vitro Culture Studies in Lawsonia inermis L. Generating Coloured Callus for the Mass Production of Herbal Hair Dye and Coloured Streaks‟

  • Dr. Naresh Chandra [PI], Dr. (Mrs.) Anita Phatak, Dr. Avinash Patil and Dr. Darshana Patil Dr. P. P. Satpute are jointly working on Major Research Project titled “Screening of some Indian Medicinal Plants for Anticancer Activity‟ funded by National Medicinal Plants Board, Dept. of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India (2012). Some of the research finding are very promising

Scholarships

  • Miss Reeja Nair, student of M.Com. (E-Commerce) Part-II of our College has been selected for Scholarship with full freeship for „Sheriff of Mumbai‟s Scholarship for Women‟ to pursue M.A. - (Human Resource Management) programme at University of Westminister, London, U.K.

  • Three of our students have been granted scholarship by Confucius Institute, China. They would be leaving for School of Chinese Language and Culture, Tianjin University of Technology, Tianjin, China.

  • Around eleven of our students are pursuing research leading to Ph.D. in different foreign universities. Students have received scholarship to pursue their research work.

      The management of college is supported by quality professors well known in their area of work. I joined the 5 year course of bachelor of commerce based on the marks secured in SSC. I did not feel like changing the changing after HSC due to quality of education and faculty in the college. The process of getting admission is quite difficult but very transparent. The college was very good in informing the admission process and allocation of the seats to the prospective students. Since years quite
