Honestly I think classic layers have stayed relevant because they still perform well. Fine-gauge options in mens golf sweaters work especially well as transitional layers when temperatures move around during a round. And when you want a little warmth without affecting the swing, a mens golf vest over a polo is still a go-to combination. What I like is that many better golf brands now blend traditional styling with performance yarns, so it doesn’t really feel like choosing between old-school and modern anymore.
There’s something sharp about old-school golf layering, but newer performance fabrics have definitely changed what people expect from outerwear. I’m curious whether most golfers still mix both or have moved almost entirely toward technical pieces.
