Recently, I've run into an annoying problem. When I try to join certain servers in CS 1.6, the game either freezes or I receive a connection error. I have several graphics mods and custom weapon models installed, and I suspect they're causing the issue. Could you please explain why this is happening?

I ran into this problem quite a few times back in the day, too. I really did have trouble getting the mod to work with the graphics. Most servers use strict security and anti-cheat systems. When you try to join one of these servers with your mods, the security plugin detects differences from the original files and disconnects or kicks you with an error. The simplest and most reliable solution is to download the clean, original version. I’ve been playing exclusively on the client from https://csget.me/ for a long time, and it always connects me. It has a completely default configuration and standard files. If you have graphics mods, there are HD models that won't conflict with anti-cheat systems. Which mods did you install?

Can server protection systems (such as Rechecker or other anti-cheat tools) block custom files, scripts, and modified skins that they flag as third-party modifications or cheats? Often, an error occurs indicating that resources failed to load or that the connection was lost during file verification. Can this be fixed manually by clearing the cache and mod folders? Or, is it better to simply download a completely clean, updated game build that won’t cause conflicts with network security measures and anti-cheat systems?
