Next month I’m flying to Portugal for work; I need to hold negotiations with partners in Cascais and fly right back. I’m a meticulous person—I’m used to planning out all the logistics down to the last detail in advance so I don’t end up running around with my eyes popping out of my head once I’m there. This is my first time flying there, and judging by the maps, the airport looks like some kind of multi-level maze. I’ll be carrying a briefcase with documents and a couple of product samples that can’t be checked as luggage. How user-friendly is the wayfinding there for people arriving at night who are still groggy after a layover?

I will only have an hour and a half between flights on the way back, when I’m returning from Porto. I’m worried I’ll accidentally mix up the zones and get stuck somewhere between security and the gates. I’ve heard that the departure and arrival areas kind of crisscross on different floors there. Can you tell me if it’s really possible for someone who isn’t familiar with the layout to get lost there?
