About College

The National Institute of Technology Karnataka is also known as NITK, Surathkal and is one of the 30 NITs of India and is reckoned as one of the top technological universities of India. It was established in 1960 when it was also known as the Karnataka Regional Engineering College. It was declared as Institutes of National Importance by the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007.

  • It is situated near the city of Mangalore beside the Kanyakumari-Mumbai Highway. It is well linked by rail and road and by air to the main cities of India and a few international locations.
    NITK has a lush green campus sprawling over 250 acres of land.
  • NITK is a conglomeration of 14 Departments, 12 Supporting Centers, 200 Highly Experienced and Dedicated Faculty, 300 Dedicated Supporting Staff, 3900 endowed and motivated Students, 16200 illustrious Alumni, and 49 years of expertise in producing world Class Engineers and Leaders.
  • NITK is consistently rated amongst the best NITs and has good industry relations due to its location being in Karnataka. Some of the past recruiters of the institute are- Google, Microsoft, Amazon, L&T, Indian Oil, etc.
  • It also conducts various International conferences and symposiums on fields related to engineering. Such as- International Conference on Eco-friendly Computing and Communication Systems (ICECCS), International Symposium on Electronic System Design (ISED 2014), etc.

Academic Overview: NITK Surathkal offers various undergraduate and graduate programs in Engineering, Science, and Management.

Festivals: Students involved in technical activities, as well as cultural events supported by one of the many student-run clubs and organizations on campus. Some major events are-

  • Engineer- It is the annual technical symposium at NITK Surathkal which takes place typically around the last week of October.
  • Incident- Incident is the institute’s annual cultural festival which is conducted in the last week of February and held over five days. It includes events from dance and dramatics to music, painting, fashion, and quizzing.

      In terms of placements NITK 2013 15 batch out of 26, 20 got placed and remaining 6 were refused to take job comapnies like Robert Bosch, Practo, Oracle, Infiniti Research, Quest Global, Capital via, Axis Bank, Tonguestun, TCS, Mindtree, Metal and Future First average package offer by these companies were 4.5 lacs, highest package was 8.5 lacs and lowest package was 4 lacs.

      I appeared for the CAT and i got 80.28% ile in CAT 2013 for me MBA is only option i am commerce graduate i choose this college because of college fees and second thing this is government institute and obviously NIT is a brand name fees of this college is around 2.5 lacs for 2 years.
