Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) was established in Aug 2004 under The Jammu and Kashmir Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Act, 1999 an Act of the J&K State Legislature Act.
- It is an autonomous, highly Technical & fully Residential University
- The University is approved by UGC under Section 2(F) & Section 12(B) of UGC Act of 1956
- The technical programs of the University are recognized by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education)
- The architecture program is recognized by the Council of Architecture
- University is located on 470 acres of land in the lap of Trikuta Hills surrounding green hills and the perennial stream of Jhajjar

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has established Training & Placement cell. It assists students in summer training and campus placements for the graduating students. Activities of Training and Placement Cell are Pre-placement Talk by the company, Online or Written test, Group Discussion, Technical Interview and HR Interview.

In this university, infrastructure and architecture are also good. Students from all over India can be seen in the university. In the case of academics, we have excellent faculty. My department of Electronics and Communication has some great Professor one of them who had done his post-doctorate from the San Deigo State University USA was great. The hostels provide the best room facilities in terms of everything. Students from the different parts of India had given a great boon to the University.
