Why do people hate the IITs ?

Hate is a strong word. I have personally never come across people who 'hate' the IITs with all the gumption in their heart. If some people do in fact hate the IITs, the reasons could be many. The case of sour grapes for one seems plausible. On the other hand, the problem of brain drain could also have led to some people into hating the IITs. Nevertheless, they remain the most prestigious institutions of our country
