To secure a co-supervisor for your Ph.D., involve your main supervisor in the process. As a student, your role is to identify a potential co-supervisor who can collaborate with your main supervisor. Seek approval from your main supervisor before proceeding, keeping them informed throughout. If approved, send an introductory email to the potential co-supervisor, copying your main supervisor. Allow the professors to discuss the collaboration, acknowledging potential administrative work, especially if the co-supervisor is from a different university.

To secure a co-supervisor for your Ph.D., it is important to involve your main supervisor in the process. As a student, your role is to find a potential co-supervisor who can work alongside your main supervisor. Once you have identified a potential co-supervisor, seek approval from your main supervisor before proceeding any further. It is crucial to keep your main supervisor in the loop throughout the process. If your main supervisor approves, send an introductory email to the potential co-supervisor, but make sure to copy your main supervisor in the email. After that, it is best to step back and let the two professors discuss the possibility of working together. Keep in mind that there may be administrative work involved, especially if the co-supervisor is from a different university. Hope this helps.
