What is a good engineering branch to choose in present days ?

For most candidates today, Computer Science Engineering (CSE) can be listed among the top choices within the list of engineering branches due to the demand for expertise in areas such as software programming, AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, and Cloud Computing. The same case applies for CSE at Lovely Professional University since the program ranks high when it comes to placement, industrial training, and specialization. It must be pointed out that the "best" branch will depend on what you enjoy since people who love pure engineering are likely to excel in branches like Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering.

I'm not sure engineering is the right branch to choose in the present climate. With the IT boom receding with every passing year, Indian engineering freshers are slowly being hit by the global market forces which are moving towards automation and robotics. Conventional engineering branches such as mechanical and civil have been hit severely while CS and IT are also becoming outdated and redundant since most colleges do not impart pure coding skills. In my opinion, you should go for engineering only if you feel it is the right career for you. Do not, I repeat, do not choose engineering for the sake of placements after four years.
