I’m curious how much time a day you actually spend caring for your puppy. My puppy arrived a couple of months ago, and at first I thought it would be one or two hours a day, but in reality it’s much more. Morning walk, then feeding, games, a bit of training, another walk, cleaning up after him — and the day is almost over. At the same time, I notice that the more time I spend with him, the calmer and more confident he becomes. I’m just wondering how it is for others — is it like this for everyone, or am I doing something wrong?

My experience is very similar, especially in the first few months. I’d say at least 2–3 hours a day goes into it when you add everything up: walks, feeding, playtime, training. At first it felt like too much, but then I realized it’s like an investment — things get easier later. I read a lot about puppy behavior and breeds, and for example, I found useful information and puppy examples here https://loveofpuppies.com/available-puppies/mini-goldendoodles-in-dallas/ — it helped me understand what to expect and how to manage my time. Over time, a routine develops, and it no longer feels so chaotic.

It’s an interesting topic, because caring for a puppy isn’t just “walk and feed.” Some people spend more time on training and socialization, others on play and walks. I think a lot depends on the dog’s personality and the owner’s lifestyle. For example, if someone works from home, they can spread their attention throughout the day, but if not, everything has to be squeezed into mornings and evenings. In any case, consistency and attention are often more important than the exact number of hours.
